With how many people can I play?
In principle, the number of players is not limited. However, the walking tours are the most fun in teams of 2 to 4 people. For groups of 5 to 20 people, we recommend forming multiple teams that start the tour either at the same time or with short time lags. For larger groups of up to 100 people, we offer customized packages. Please reach out to us via e-mail in such a case.
How do I start a tour?
Simply go to the starting point of the walking tour at a time of your choice. Once there, open the Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp and start a chat with ryddle. Make sure to have your start code ready (you can purchase a start code on our website). Before the tour begins, we provide a few more tips on how to play the game.
On which devices does ryddle work?
To play ryddle you only need a mobile internet connection and Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. It doesn’t matter on which device you use this app. The walking tours can be played with a smartphone as well as a tablet. Also, the type of operating system (e.g. iOS, Android) does not matter.
How and when do I get my start code?
Immediately after the payment (see also “How can I pay?”) of your ordered adventure, we will send you the start code via e-mail. This e-mail also contains short instructions regarding the next steps.
Is the start code only valid for me or all players?
The start code is valid for one adventure, regardless of the number of players (see also “How many people can I play with?”). However, the start code can only be used on one device (see also “On which devices does ryddle work?”), so it is a good idea to select a person who reads out the messages.
For how long is a start code valid?
The start code is valid for one year after the payment. During this period you can use the start code anytime to start the respective adventure (see also “How do I start an ordered adventure?”).
Can I cancel an order?
Yes, you can cancel an order within 14 days given that the start code has not been used by then. Please contact us via e-mail at email@example.com. Please make sure to indicate the number of your order.
How can I pay?
You can pay conveniently with a payment method of your choice. We accept PayPal, credit cards, Sofortüberweisung and Giropay. If you have received a voucher, you can redeem it during the payment process (see also “How can I redeem a voucher?”).
How can I redeem a voucher?
If you have a voucher, you can redeem it within a regular order process. After having selected an adventure, you will be forwarded to the payment process. Please enter your voucher code in the field “Discount” to reduce the invoice amount accordingly.
How do I get an invoice?
A payment receipt will be sent to you automatically and immediately after we have received your payment. In case you also need an official invoice, just contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are there any additional costs?
There are no additional costs for you. However, please note that a mobile Internet connection is required to play the adventures (see also “What do I need for an adventure?”). If you do not have an Internet flat rate, additional costs may be charged by your mobile phone provider.

How do the walking tours differ?
Each walking tour has a unique storyline that moves forward through the dialogue with a fictional character. Because of the different stories, the offered walking tours primarily differ in terms of their character and tone, while their duration and distance are largely comparable. More details about each tour can be found under “Walking Tours”.
What do I need for a walking tour?
For one of our walking tours, you require an Internet-enabled device (smartphone or tablet) equipped with the Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. Neither the device manufacturer nor the operating system matter (see also “On which devices does ryddle work?”).
In addition, you should make sure in advance that your device is sufficiently charged when you begin the tour. To ensure you are not running out of battery, you may want to take a powerbank with you. Furthermore, we recommend to wear comfortable shoes.
How long does a walking tour take?
The walking tours differ slightly in the number of riddles to be solved and the distance covered. More detailed information can be found under “Walking Tours”. However, the duration is usually between 1 and 2 hours, depending on how quickly you solve the riddles and how many breaks you take.
With how many people can I play?

ryddle is also suitable for larger groups of up to 100 people, such as school classes, clubs, or firms. Due to the increased logistical effort, we offer individual packages for such events, which can include a kickoff presentation, a written guide for all participants, and technical support on the day of the event. Therefore, we kindly ask large groups to contact us via our contact form or by e-mail to email@example.com.
How much is a walking tour?
A walking tour usually costs 18 € or 24 € (for longer adventures). For this price you can expect about 1- 2.5 hours of a fun stroll with your friends or family. You can find out more about the different tours under “Walking Tours”.
When can I play ryddle?
You can play ryddle at any time of the day – day or night – and on any day of the week – even on holidays. However, we recommend playing ryddle during the day as certain riddles may be harder to solve in the dark.

Do I need any prior knowledge to solve the riddles?
No, all riddles can be solved without any particular prior knowledge. The solutions or hints are usually hidden in your immediate environment. If a riddle turns out to be too tricky, you can always use the “hint” function. Learn more about this under “What should I do if I can’t solve a riddle?”.
Is it possible to interrupt the walking tour (e.g. for a break)?
Since the duration of the game is not fixed, you can interrupt the tour at any time, e.g. to take a break. During all walking tours you pass by several places of interest, restaurants and cafés that are suitable for short breaks.
I want to learn more about certain places.
For many places additional background information is available. You will be informed about this possibility, if available. The additional information can be retrieved by entering the keyword “Info”. Please note that this additional information is not needed to solve the riddles!
Are the tours dangerous?
No, the walking tours are completely harmless. Nevertheless, you should always look out for other pedestrians, cyclists and cars when solving riddles.
Are the walking tours accessible for people with impairments?
As the walking tour lead through public space, accessibility is not always given.
Hamburg: The tour “Deadly Kiez” is the best choice (cobblestones only on very limited parts of the route).
Copenhagen: The tour “The Art of Love” is fully accessible.
Are the walking tours suitable for children?
Although our offer is primarily intended for adults, we consider the contents of all walking tours to be suitable for children aged 12 and above.
On which devices does ryddle work?
Can I play on several devices at the same time?
Unfortunately, ryddle cannot be played using the group chat function. Please decide on which device you are going to play with before starting the game. A stable internet connection and a sufficient battery level are important.
I paid but did not receive a start code.
The delivery of the start code usually takes only a few seconds, but in rare cases, it can take several minutes. If you have not received a start code, please check the spam folder of your e-mail account first. If you can’t find the e-mail there either, we recommend you to check whether the payment has been successfully completed (in your PayPal payment history, for example). If the problem persists, please contact us directly: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The start code isn't working.
If your start code does not work, please check first whether you have possibly swapped the letter “O” with the number “0”. If the problem persists, you should contact us at: email@example.com.
What should I do if I can't solve a riddle?
If you can’t solve a riddle, you can get one or more hints by entering the word “Hint”. Otherwise, you can skip a question by entering “Skip.
What happens if I have to stop the adventure for certain reasons?
You can stop an adventure at any time and continue it at a later point in time. Simply go to the location of the last riddle that you have solved and open the ryddle chat again. Please note, however, that the start code loses its validity after one year (see also “For how long is a start code valid?”).
What to do if a road is blocked (e.g. because of a construction site or an event)?
Despite regular checks, unforeseen restrictions in the course of the game may occur in rare cases. In such a case we recommend you to solve the concerned riddle with the help of the “hint” function in order to proceed. Otherwise, you can enter “Skip” to skip a question and proceed with the next one. We would greatly appreciate if you could report such problems to firstname.lastname@example.org.
What should I do if I am running out of battery?
If your battery is running low, you have two options. If you have a charging option (e.g. a power bank or a charging cable in a café, etc.), it is best to take a short break for this purpose. If you do not have a charging possibility, you can either continue the adventure on another day or you must restart the adventure using another device.
What should I do if a technical error occurs?
If a technical error occurs, we advise you to first determine whether this error is caused is device- or server-related. The former can be checked by opening the ryddle chat on another device. If no error occurs, we recommend restarting the faulty device. If the problem persists, the only option is to use another device. In this case, you have to restart the adventure. If the ryddle chat does not work on another device, the error is probably server-related. In this case, it is best to wait and try to continue the adventure after a few minutes.
